Security is something that every business wants, in both a finance sense, and a physical sense – a shop front, an office or even a warehouse all require a certain level of security to prevent theft, damage or unwanted access. There are varying levels of security available for all kinds of premises, from padlocks to eye scanners, speed bumps to automatic bollards – here are a few of our suggestions on how you can make your premises a little more secure, from using high end security systems or simple changes to your operations:

Electronic Key Locks

Fitting electronic key fob locks to your premises and issuing key fobs to staff who need access can really help to ensure that the only people in your premises are people who need access. Giving every member of staff their own electronic keys means that installing auto-locking doors is much more viable, and therefore secure.

A Sign in system

Having a sign-in system in place, whether it’s electronic or the reliable pen and paper sign in book, it helps you to keep track of who is coming in and out of your premises, and when. It is always good to have a record of who was on your premises at any given time.

CCTV

CCTV is no longer a top of the range system set aside only for high security larger businesses. A complete CCTV system is easily an affordable option for any business now. Having eyes on your entrances, office, shop front or warehouse can act as a deterrent first and foremost, and a way of proving and identifying people or actions in case anything should happen.

Gate security

Being able to prevent vehicle access at certain times to your premises can provide that extra layer of security over just being able to lock your front doors. Being able to restrict vehicles means you can cut down the on people parking on your premises, blocking staff out, or in, and can even lower the chances of theft, as vehicles can often be used to carry stolen goods or as a getaway car.

Speed bumps

Speed bumps help to regulate the speed of traffic within, or past, your premises and therefore helps to protect any staff, visitors or customers from the dangers of getting hit by a fast moving vehicle. They’re very simple to install, and much more effective than “slow” signs or enforced speed limits.

Bollards

If your premises are near a busy main road, it might be worthwhile investing in crash bollard outside, to help deter any stray, out of control, cars cannot go straight into the front of your shop, office or building.

Whilst some of these measures may be a little over the top for the business that you’re operating, they offer some helpful ideas of how you can keep your premises secure and your staff safe.
