With the World Cup happening this year, and summer rapidly approaching – there’s never been a better time to kit out your bar, and spruce it up from the inside out.

With thousands of customers in the catering sector, we’ve picked up a thing or two.

1. Bar Hooks

An item which is often overlooked, but can be very important – bar hooks, for hanging purses, handbags, jackets or scarves. A quick, cheap, discreet and incredibly useful addition to any bar.

If you’re looking to be that little bit more creative, why not design and brand your own Portable Purse Hooks. Sell them to break even, or give them out for free upon request with a purchase – either way, you’ll be fulfilling a need and getting free future advertising.

2. Clean Restrooms/Chalkboards

For many people, clean restrooms are the be all and end all of a night out in a bar. We expect washrooms to be clean, fresh smelling and hygienic, but sometimes we’re left with dirt, graffiti and foul smells. Nothing that an automatic air fresheners and a quick daily clean wouldn’t solve.

If you’re looking to get creative with your washrooms and reduce graffiti – try painting your cubicles in chalkboard paint, and offering a little tub of chalk in each one. Promoting graffiti takes away the anarchistic twist to it, adds in a creative flair and can be easily rubbed off in the morning, unlike a sharpie. Take a look at the washroom & hygiene supplies we can provide your business, online. Also, a small bin by the door can be really useful for those customers who like to open the door with a paper towel. Also look into waste collection services if your current one isn’t up to scratch. Super-quick hand dryers also are important – no one wants to wipe their hands on their jeans!

3. Be Interactive

Offer your customers books and games on shelves that they can borrow and play. Creating a fun and interactive environment will not only make your customers feel at home, but it’ll also help to keep them in longer and give your pub/bar a bustling and friendly environment with nothing but a few readily available packs of cards, board games and books.

4. Cheap Snacks

Offering cheap bar and table snacks to customers will add a more personal touch to your pub or bar. Little bowls of nuts, crisps or even popcorn from a popcorn maker can all liven up the atmosphere and make customers feel valued.

To really get your customers involved, invest in a few small, portable popcorn makers and stick them on the bar/tables. Having a visually appealing and interactive way of keeping your customers happy will go a long way!

5. Incentives

Everyone wants something for free, but we don’t always like asking for it or simply being given it. Instead, people like to feel like they’ve earned their ‘free’. Signing up for a competition, completing a survey, etc.

A cheap and effective way of interacting and incentivising your customers is to put little numbered stickers on the backs of every chair – spin a wheel or draw from a hat one number every hour/two hours/day and offer whoever is sat on the chair a free or discounted drink. This will make people think they’ve earned it, by sitting on the winning chair, and not start to wonder ‘What’s the catch?’. Also, you’re encouraging people to sit down, get comfy, and stay a little longer, to wait for a prize draw.

Of course, every pub and bar is different, with different customers and varied markets – see what works and what doesn’t for your business! You can stock up on bar supplies on our online store!
