We’re always looking for new ways to generate money for our chosen charity Together For Short Lives, whether it be Barmy Barnet days,  Halloween celebrations or Faye & Dani’s 54 mile treks through the countryside.

Our latest fundraising attempt was the Direct365 Office Olympics, which took place in our office in Skelmersdale last Friday.

The challenges

After splitting our office into teams, we set various challenges throughout the day. If you’re thinking of trying something similar for your business, here’s the challenges we set our teams:

Treasure Hunt

5 Golden medals were hidden in precarious places around the office, and our teams were set to the task of finding them, and writing down their location.

Picture Quiz

An email was sent around the office with pictures of 15 flags from various countries. The teams had to guess the name of the country the flag belongs to. In an online business, this isn’t always the most honest of challenges!

Cracker eating contest.

5 teams, 1 member from each, 3 crackers on every plate, no drinks. The person to eat their 3 crackers the fastest wins, although it’s a little harder than you’d think!

Scavenger Hunt

We set the teams a challenge of collecting a variety of items from around the office, including:

  • 30cm ruler

  • Pink Highlighter

  • Stapler

  • Hat

  • USB stick

  • Sock

  • Leaf

  • Paper aeroplane

  • Receipt (extra point for highest value)

  • Store card

Wheelbarrow Races

As one of the final challenges, we set our teams the task of wheelbarrowing another member of their team around our office. View some of the races below:

Squat challenge finale

Due to a tie break at the end of the day, we needed a decider round. This took place in the form of a squat challenge:
