November 19th 2024 is International Men’s Day all across the world. A day to celebrate men and raise awareness about the different causes that impact men, International Men’s Day is an important date in the diary. And at Direct365 and PHS, we’re choosing to celebrate both IMD and Men’s Health Month 2024 with a wide range of educational and charity events. Today, PHS are providing an educational session speaking with a volunteer at Prostate Cancer UK about the impact they have on cancer and providing information on their work.

With our fundraising efforts, we also like to have a bit of fun. So with that in mind, here are some of the things that Direct365 have done to support men’s health throughout the month of November.

Fundraising Initiatives

Direct365

Kyle’s Chest Wax

Where there’s gain, sometimes there has to be pain. And last week, Kyle volunteered to wax his chest all in the name of charity. As part of our ongoing month of events, dozens of us crowded round a waxing table and Kyle let out a number of screeches and yells and grimaced faces to raise over £300 for charity. Well done Kyle!

Plank Off

And to our second event of the month, a number of employees joined together for 10 minutes of fun, to see who could last the longest when doing a plank. If you’re not sure what a plank is, you can see one in the image below. And for reference, it is much harder than it looks! In the news once again, Kyle won the plank-off with an amazing 4 minutes and 15 seconds to plank action. The writer didn’t join in, but would probably only have lasted approx. 15 seconds.

Car Wash

Next week, Louise and Adam, part of our management team here at Direct365, will be washing cars to raise money for men’s charities. With the snowy weather we’ve just had, this might be a tough task, but that is some serious dedication to helping raise money for men all over the country. Mine will be first in line!

PHS

Cycle Ride

Our partnership with PHS means we love to share things they do in the name of raising money, and this last week they have indoor cycles the distance from the top of the Scotland to the bottom of England, covering hundreds of miles to raise cash. Dozens of people booked their slot to give a bit of time towards the goal. Well done all, the exercise bike will never get as much action ever again!

10k Run

A member of the PHS team, Morgan Thomas, completed a 10k run in aid of raising funds for the November men’s health drive. A great achievement, we’re sure the charity are going to be made up with the figures raised in the run.

Direct365, PHS and Prostate Cancer UK

Direct365 and PHS are closely tied to Prostate Cancer UK, and have worked closely with the charity for fundraising and awareness across a number of issues. PHS work closely with the charity, and in the last few years have launched a male incontinence service aimed at tackling the stigma around those whose lives are recovering from prostate cancer. This is a cause close to our hearts, and we’re excited to continue to do more as a group to encourage the conversation about prostate cancer.
