Washroom News: Lonely Planets Favourite Toilet

In Lonely Planets top 500 UK attractions, a public toilet would be the least likely addition to the list. The brick-built loos in nelson street are not only decorative but functional. Awarded grade two listed status; this means the building is of particular interest and should be preserved.

While built-in 1916 as a rest stop for tram and ferry passengers; coach tours regularly stop today for tourists to photos of the Edwardian decorations.

Washroom News: Baby Changing Tables In The Men’s

washroom news baby changing

It’s still not UK law for baby changing facilities to be made available for the washroom while forward-thinking companies do their best to give parents a facility in the ladies or disabled room. The men’s is still an often-forgotten place to change one’s child.

Now, on the other side of the pond. Residents of Halifax California, there have been growing concerns over the lack of access to baby changing stations for fathers. One local resident stated that this doesn’t reflect the modern family. That “…the changing dynamic in heterosexual families that men are more involved, but for same-sex families where there are two males, it makes it frustrating.”

There’s still a long way to go before there is equality for public baby changing facilities. Though as a small business, you can help steer the change by placing a changing table in every area of the washroom.

Washroom News: Emergency Toilet Exit

washroom news emergency toilet

Without clear signs to the restroom, customers alike can get very confused as to where to go. Have you ever experienced a situation with a customer asking where the toilets located?

Well for one unfortunate group of holidaymakers, a flight from Manchester was delayed by nearly eight hours after a passenger opened the emergency exit door instead of the toilet.

It’s a good reminder to make your signs as clear as possible, lest your customers accidentally enter somewhere like the broom closet!
