Philips Defibrillators HeartStart & AEDs

With a well-established heritage in producing a wide range of top-quality electronics, Philips AEDs and defibrillators from the Philips Heartstart Defibrillators range are ideal for offices, communal halls, sports centres and many more. Their flagship AED, the HeartStart, is lightweight, easy to use and allows users to respond very quickly and efficiently in the case of an emergency, which can often make the difference between life and death.

With Philips Defibrillators, no prior CPR training is necessary to operate the device and administer a life-saving shock. When used, the clever machines, will automatically detect the rhythm of the casualty's heart, identify if a shock is necessary and instruct the user how to deliver it with audio instructions.

The Benefits of Philips HeartStart Defibrillators

Ease of Use: The HeartStart Philips defibrillators are designed to be user-friendly, with step-by-step voice commands to guide users through the process of treating a person of sudden cardiac arrest.

They are designed for use by both trained and minimally trained users, including school nurses, medical professionals, Fire, and police.

Durability and Portability: The HeartStart FRx AED is designed to withstand rough environments, including outdoors, at construction sites, on airplanes or helicopters, in vehicles, or boats.

The Philips HeartStart OnSite AED is lightweight, weighing only 3.3 lbs., making it easy to transport.

Pediatric Use: HeartStart Philips defibrillators are considered one of the best pediatric defibrillators. With the SMART Pads Cartridge installed, anyone can safely perform CPR and defibrillation on pediatric patients.

CPR Coaching: The HeartStart defib FRx offers on-demand CPR Coaching to help the stressed user recall their training. Calm, clear voice instructions are precisely timed to the responder's actions, guiding the responder every step of the way.

Effectiveness: Philips pioneered the use of biphasic waveforms in external defibrillators. The electric medicine delivered by the HeartStart FRx has been rigorously studied, with more than 40 studies demonstrating high first shock efficacy and effectiveness across the full spectrum of patients.

Why use Philips HeartStart AEDs?

Philips HeartStart Defibrillators are widely recognised for their user-friendly design, reliability, and effectiveness in treating sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), making them a preferred choice for both professional and lay users.

One of the key features of HeartStart Philips Defibrillators is their intuitive, step-by-step voice instructions, which include CPR guidance and an audible metronome to help guide basic life support (BLS) responders during a suspected SCA. This feature is designed to be easy to use, even for those with minimal training, making this Philips AED accessible to a wide range of users.

As mentioned, the HeartStart Philips Defibrillators are also designed to withstand rough environments, making them suitable for use in various settings such as outdoors, at construction sites, on airplanes or helicopters, in vehicles or boats. They are lightweight and reliable, able to withstand rough handling and extreme temperatures.

HeartStart Philips Defibs also come with SMART Pads II, which can be used for both adults and children. These pads are "smart" because they can sense that they have been removed from the cartridge and applied to the patient, helping the HeartStart Defibrillator know at what point the user is in the response process.

Moreover, the HeartStart Philips Defibrillators are equipped with Philips' SMART Biphasic therapy, a unique combination of high current to maximise effectiveness and a lower energy dose to minimise side effects that are harmful to a fragile heart.

The HeartStart Defibrillators also offer on-demand CPR Coaching to help the stressed user recall their training. Calm, clear voice instructions are precisely timed to the responder's actions, guiding the responder every step of the way. Additionally, the HeartStart Philips Defibrillators conduct self-tests every single day, not just weekly, performing over 80 different tests in all to ensure readiness.

So, Philips HeartStart Defibrillators are designed to be user-friendly, reliable, and effective, making them a valuable tool in the treatment of sudden cardiac arrest. Their robust design, intuitive voice instructions, SMART Pads II, and SMART Biphasic therapy, combined with their daily self-tests and on-demand CPR Coaching, make them a preferred choice for both professional and lay users.

What environments might the Philips Defibrillators HeartStart not be suitable?

The Philips HeartStart AEDs are designed to be rugged and reliable, capable of withstanding rough handling, extreme temperatures, and dusty or wet surfaces. However, there are certain environments and conditions where they might not be suitable.

Extreme Temperatures: The Philips HeartStart FRx defibrillator has a standby/operating range of 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Therefore, it may not function optimally in environments with temperatures outside this range.

High Humidity and Water Exposure: While the Philips HeartStart FRx defibrillator is designed to withstand wet surfaces, it should not be used if the victim is in water or excessively sweaty. Additionally, spilling fluids into the HeartStart Home may damage it or cause a fire or shock hazard.

Electromagnetic Interference: Implantable heart rhythm devices are susceptible to interference in environments where electromagnetic interference (EMI) sources are ubiquitous. There have been documented cases where EMI from the external defibrillator caused the inability to interrogate certain cardiac resynchronisation therapy-pacemaker (CRT-P) devices.

Other Specific Conditions: The HeartStart FRx Philips AED should not be operated around oxygen containers or other combustible materials, and it should never be used on oneself.

In summary, while the Philips HeartStart defibrillators are designed to be robust and versatile, they may not be suitable for use in environments with extreme temperatures outside their operating range, high humidity or water exposure, areas with significant electromagnetic interference, and certain specific conditions.
