Dealing with abrasive wheels can be hazardous if workers fail to follow proper safety procedures. At Direct365, we provide a City & Guilds training course to deliver appropriate safety knowledge on all aspects of working with abrasive wheels.

Our safety courses cater to a range of workplaces and employees, no matter what industry you’re in, what size your business and what position you’re in (whether supervisory or not).

A safety training programme is the perfect way to introduce new users to the safe operation of equipment, as well as refreshing current workers on the necessary practices. Hazard-prevention is vital for everyone, especially when it comes to keeping the workplace safe and compliant. For more information and to find a course near you, call 0808 223 0690 or complete the form below.

This comprehensive half day course is designed for workers who operate, supervise or manage the use of handheld equipment that requires a fitment of an abrasive wheel or grinding disc, including angle grinders, cut off saws and bench top cut off saws.

The classroom-based course will demonstrate the selection and safe fitting of abrasive wheels in accordance with manufacturer guidance and current legislation. Delegates will learn about wheel type specification, mounting and storage, damaged or faulty equipment, effects on health, control measures and more.

Upon completing this industry-accredited programme, participants will be awarded with a City & Guilds Certificate in Abrasive Wheels.

The HSE have published guidance for the safe use of abrasive wheels, stressing the need for essential training. Employers are responsible for putting safety measures in place to prevent accidents, injuries and damage – this is part of every business’s Duty of Care, and will help your workplace to stay compliant with the law.

Our training course content draws from HSE guidelines on wheel characteristics; safety in grinding machine operations; wheel mounting procedures and issues; guards; extra considerations for portable or handheld grinders; and protective equipment requirements. Ensure your workers are safe and book onto a course today!
