What does your salon need?

There are many things that your business needs to function, but when it comes to facilities, these services are vital to staying on the right side of the law and keeping a functioning salon:

  • Hazardous Waste Disposal, e.g. Non-empty aerosol cans, fluorescent light tubes, and polish remover
  • Sharps Waste Disposal, e.g. Botox needles, razors, and contaminated glass
  • General Waste Disposal, e.g. Cotton wool pads, buds, and make-up wipes
  • Dry Mixed Recycling, e.g. Food and drinks cans, empty aerosol cans, and cardboard packaging
  • Glass Recycling, e.g. Glass bottles, and jars

Clinical Waste

What colour are the bins?

For Sharps Waste and Clinical Waste, the bins are yellow with different coloured lids to denote the type of Clinical/Sharps waste. Anatomical Waste bins have an orange lid, Cyto Waste (If you don’t know, Cyto Waste is waste from drug therapy, such as chemotherapy) have purple, and Medicinal Waste bins have a blue lid. You may have seen other colours of bin but those are reserved for other types, such as Pharmaceutical Waste.

What is classed as Clinical Waste?

For clinical waste, we’re looking at things such as wax strips, pads, cotton wool buds, and other items used for treatments, like electrolysis and microdermabrasion. These all have to kept separate and in individual bins. No throwing needles and cotton buds together at all.

To find out what bins you will need for your Sharps Disposal, give us a call or fill in a form.

General Waste

General waste is perhaps the most common type of waste. Thanks to modern recycling techniques, the types of waste counted as general waste have reduced and as a result, it is now harder to clearly identify what is general waste and what can be recycled.

The general waste that is produced but cannot be recycled?

For this type of generic waste, they go in black bin bags and placed in a big bin. This is dependent on how much waste is produced but it’s doubtful anyone wants to see black bins building up anywhere.

Are there different bin sizes available?

Yes, we have various sizes of bins available, from 240 litre capacity bins (these fit in around 3-5 full bin bags) to 1100 litre (15-20 bin bags). Whatever size you need we will have it.

At Direct365, we can take care of everything needed to safely dispose of all general waste, completely hassle free and will look to beat any price.

What goes in to recycling?

Pretty much the same things that can be at home. Think paper, cardboard, glass bottles, plastics, metal cans, etc. They go in colour co-ordinated bins just like the ones you will have at home too, perhaps not the same colours though.

As for aerosol cans, can they be recycled?

They can be recyclable if they are empty. So if you use aerosols such as hair spray, then it is a good idea to make sure that the cans are empty. If they are not and you place them with recyclables then two things:

  • That’s not what you should do, since the chemicals that still remain in the can are hazardous. We will just say this, imagine what could happen if flammable chemicals get placed with non-flammable materials in the recycling process.
  • If you insist on having hazardous waste then you will need a separate Hazardous Waste Disposal Service.

Not sure if you’ll need both services? – give us a call and we can help you get whatever you need.

Sanitary Waste

What type of Sanitary Waste bins do you offer?

Our Sanitary Waste Service offers different types of bin to suit the needs of every business. We have different sizes and colours to suit every washroom style.

Do the bags from sanitary bins not go with general waste?

No, this is because of the nature of the waste and the location of the bins, where germs and bacteria can build up very easily.

To get the best deal on Sanitary Waste Disposal then don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Other Important Services

Alongside the services listed above, we have a number of other services that would be ideal for your salon. These are:

  • Fire Alarm Testing – Get your whole system tested to ensure that you are prepared should the worst happen.
  • Fire Extinguisher Testing – Make sure that you have the right fire extinguishers for your business and that they are properly serviced.
  • PAT Testing – Your everyday equipment, e.g. hair dryers, radios, TVs, computers etc. These will need testing if your business uses them since they could potentially harm staff or customers if faulty.
  • Fixed Wire Testing – Light fittings, switches, and plug sockets all need to be safety tested and our comprehensive service will cover everything, even paperwork.
  • Legionella Testing – With extensive use of water, your business will need to test for Legionnaire’s Disease, a potentially fatal infection that is a type of pneumonia.

If you want to know more about how we can help you with any service, give us a call or fill in the form to the right of this page.
