Fuel & Oil Absorbents

Oil and fuel absorbents are specialised materials designed to efficiently absorb hydrocarbon spills from various surfaces and environments. This could be in the form of highly absorbent oil pads, marine booms, or rolls which all have high absorbency for oil and fuel spills.
The most commonly used oil and fuel absorbents are synthetic materials, particularly polypropylene-based products. These absorbents can be manufactured in various forms, including pads, rolls, cushions, socks, and booms, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. One of the key advantages of synthetic oil absorbents is that they can be treated to be oleophilic (oil-attracting) and hydrophobic (water-repellent), making them ideal for removing oil from water surfaces. This property allows them to float indefinitely on water until fully saturated, making them particularly effective for marine oil spill cleanup.
When selecting the right fuel or oil-absorbent product, it's crucial to choose the right type for the specific application. Oil and fuel only absorbents are typically white in colour and are designed to absorb oils and hydrocarbons while repelling water. These are particularly useful for cleaning up oil spills on water surfaces. The choice of absorbent product type depends on factors such as the type and size of the spill and the environment in which it occurred.
