Metal abrasive pads usually sold in supermarkets appear effective, though, this variety is capable of leaving lasting damage to non-stick surfaces.

The sponge / non-metal variety sold here reduce the likelihood of this damage happening during the cleaning process.

Additionally, they still provide the level of resistant cleaning required.
