  • ADAPTIV biphasic technology is used to analyse the patient’s condition, in order for the unit to automatically adjust the power of the shock to be delivered. To deliver the shock a clearly indicated button must be pressed by the user.

Default energy delivery protocol is set at 200J, 200J, 360J but this can be changed to between 150 and 360 J. Fully charged, the in-built re-chargeable lithium battery can deliver 30 shocks and up to 210 minutes of “on time”.

With space to store up to 20 minutes of ECG and 200 time-stamped event markers, a motion sensor and capabilities for wireless transference of data to a PC for review using a Medtronics event review software packages, the Lifepak includes everything you need to deliver fast effective aid in an emergency.

*Approximately 70% of UK ambulance teams carry Lifepak devices, with the North West and London teams carrying only Lifepak. This allows them to simply unplug the pads from the Lifepak CR Plus Defib and plug it straight into their own more advanced Lifepak device if they attend a cardiac arrest.

Voice prompts, pre-connected electrode pads, and clear indication lights guide the user through the steps towards administering the shock.

are these suitable for children and infants?

    Date: 03/07/2013 | By mary
    Hello Mary
Thanks for your enquiry, the Lifepak defibrillator is suitable for use on children and infants. You just have to ensure that you are using the suitable pads. The infant pads are suitable for use on children aged 2 to 8 years of age. The Adult pads can be used on anyone aged 8 or over. The unit comes with adult pads as standard, you need to buy the infant pads separately.

Do these machines need servicing? If so at what intervals and what is the procedure?

Date: 05/12/2013 | By Alex Johnson
    Hello Alex

This particular Defibrillator - the Lifepak CR plus unit does not need servicing, it is self calibrating. You need to replace the pads every two years as the stickiness becomes ineffective, but that's its. Saving a life made easy.

    Many Thanks

What is the lifespan of these defibrillators and how does one know when to recharge the battery. Can this defibrillator be kept outside?
    With kind regards.

    Hello Elisabeth

The Lifepak CR plus has an 8 year warranty, there are no maintenance costs - the unit calibrates and checks itself. The only on-going cost is for the pads - these need to be replaced every 2 years as the stickiness becomes ineffective, when you purchase these replacement pads a 'trickle' charge stick is sent out and this ensures the lifespan of the unit at 8 years.

    Details of replacement pads: http://www.direct365.co.uk/supplies/physio-control-lifepak-cr-plus-semi-automatic-defibrillator-electrode-pads

    Hope this helps

can the battery be replaced by the owner

    Date: 17/01/2014 | By graham
    Hi GRaham

    Thanks for you question.
Link to the Physio control Brochure: http://www.physio-control.com/uploadedFiles/Physio85/Contents/Emergency_Medical_Care/Products/Brochures/CRPlus_Brochure_3305831_C.pdf

    In summary

There is an internal battery which is the main battery – that you never need to access or swap, that is trickle fed by the charge stick which is in the side of the defibrillator, the trickle stick lasts 2 years and should be changed at the same time as the pads. When you get the new replacement pads every two years you should swap over the pads and the charge stick at the same time.

So there is no on going battery cost – you just pay for the pads and the charge stick comes with them. One pair of adult replacement pads are priced at £60.00 + VAT see link http://www.direct365.co.uk/supplies/physio-control-lifepak-cr-plus-semi-automatic-defibrillator-electrode-pads

The unit is covered by an 8 year warranty.

    Many Thanks
