Tampons aren’t for toilets.

Before you go thinking no harm done, follow us on a wild ride to get down to the proverbial bottom of things.

Why are people flushing instead of sticking it in a bin?

As a male content writer, I delved deep into my feminine side and realised something.

I had no idea how women dispose of tampons.

According to this Guardian article, around 9.3 million women use tampons in the UK but aren’t vocal about how they dispose of them. Makes sense, its quite a personal question… Until Martha Silcott, the inventor of Fab Little Bag came along.

She found after surveying hundreds of women and girls, the majority flush them down the toilet. I shouldn’t need to tell you this but, the only thing that requires flushing should be your bodily excretions.

Consequences of flushing tampons

Do you know what happens when you flush a tampon or pad down the toilet?

The environmental impact is astounding, think of the statistics earlier. If 60% of female tampon users are flushing tampons, that’s around 1.4 billion tampons flushed every year!

When this overflow reaches the oceans, it ends up polluting and killing the wildlife, littering the beaches and coasts. Just generally being a complete and utter avoidable mess.

Tampons and other non-biodegradable solid matter often blocks plumbing and in more severe cases, blocks entire sewage networks creating fatbergs.

Now as an environmentally conscious company, we’ve begun selling fab little bags in our online store.

How do they work?

Fab Little Bags are uniquely opened with one hand using two finger loops and have a seal that ensures that a bag can be confidently carried to the bin.

If you care about the environment or have ever experienced a blocked toilet, you probably hate the thought of flushing tampons; the alternative “bag and bin” options though, just leave anxiety and shame.

Well. That was the case until FabLittleBag.

No longer do you have to scrunch them up in loo roll. Fab little bags offer the best tampon disposal method. Period.

But not only that.

There’s a fab little dispenser too!
